Sometimes I don’t get enough sleep...and that makes my brainwaves slop around more than usual. Last night I took the overnight ferry from Naxos to Piraeus (Athens) to get city stuff done for a couple days. The boat lands at 430 am and shops don’t open till 9, so some ‘downtime’. Basically, the ferry is a cross between the dmv and Vegas. Bright lights and anticipation but yet in a place you really don’t wanna be. I tried lying on the floor in front of my seat with the noise canceling headsets on, but the maritime lighting designer won the battle with the high intensity ceiling cans...so here I am downing double espressos, while thoughts hit mental backwash. I started to wonder what the heck is next in this journey. Sure, there’s at least 50,000 more sea miles to slide under Grateful, but fresh perspectives are fleeting when I get into a groove. And forcing myself off the proverbial mental couch, well, I need a kick in the cerebellum. Scrolling through instagram I find just the antidote: @leloslovesyou Whom I met in an Athens bar. He has a tat of Cupid...with an M-16 instead of the bow and arrow that got lost on the waterfront of SF...modern love. Then today’s post by @lovestaceyrobbins pretty much summed it up: her thesis today about being designed for love. And, ironically, I believe love is energy and thus , light. Evidently, it can keep you up all night now matter what the form. Well, now it’s nine, and Athens is open for business. Hope you sleep better than I did!!!
