In the fall of 2018, Grateful, a Beneteau Sense 50’ sailboat, left Turgutreis, Turkey for a sailing adventure to see the world. 4 years later we are still sailing hard, finding new anchorages, and keeping the faith as we ply the waters of planet earth. Join our adventure by jumping aboard.

Summer 2022 we’ll be cruising the Greek islands ….so many exciting places to explore.

#grateful What a long, amazing trip it’s been. Since I first found Grateful, waiting for me, I have plied the 23,000 miles... #grateful... Far enough to have almost circled the planet… mostly at 7 miles per hour winds from slack to 48 knots, freezing snow covered mountains to warm, long hot days. #grateful...Only on one day did I break down and turn on the A/C. The crew constantly changes: around 1000 people to date from a Kurdish artist to David my brother. To a family who quit American life to work for the peace corps in Somolia, to my Greek teacher. And a couple of young men from wales who were biking their way home from Afghanistan, where they spent a year teaching English. #grateful...One of my favorites was the couple from the Ukraine, who wanted to see what the cruising life was all about. Their daughter made me the most beautiful ceramic plate I have ever seen its colors capture the all the depths of Blue and green of the ocean.

Every one who comes aboard leaves…grateful!, Grateful has changes lives. And my reality continuing these stories and really change my life, #grateful... and add to the continued story of Grateful...and some sort of cosmic, divine force that led me to her. #grateful Today I slogged thru what was probably worst sea-states I’ve encountered, a fetch of 4 to 8’ thrashed swell with 25 knot wind at an obtuse angle. One of my crew is the youngest ever, a 12 year old girl from Norway...#grateful...she slogged it out, hanging on to the rolling, pitching twisting madness for 3 hours and never was heard a discouraging word.

She and her mom just smiled and took in all what Mother Nature dished out with a grin and a giggle. They even put up with my guitar playing!! I conceived of this journey when I was 13 from my room in that house on the hill in Hacienda Heights, where I was a fish out of water. #grateful. We have room for you. Come volunteer, share the experience of finding Grateful. #sailingadventure #sailing#amorgos #beneteausense50 #love

There is no reward in this world to settle for something you don’t want. If you settle for something you don’t want, then you are going to be disillusioned, you will feel cheated, and you are not living life to the fullest. This should be my dead fast rule. There is no reward for it and no crown in heaven waiting for me because I settled for something I really do not want. So try to take ownership for my decisions and take responsibility for it if it did not work out. Ultimately is down to me.” - John Cougar Mellencamp
